Manufacturer
– Czech Republic
- quality class “higher than GOST”.
In
1947 there stood the official decision to introduce a comprehensive manufacture
of rolling bearings in former Czechoslovakia.
That very year the newly constituting plant within the Zbrojovka Concern at Brno - Lisen established
contacts and collaboration with the British company Hoffmann. This laid the
foundations for development of bearings manufacture not only in Brno but also in the whole
republic. Despite the all difficulties in the year 1948 the manufacture of
first 28 types of bearings had been acquired. To the date of January 1, 1950 a new
establishment was set up: Zavody presneho strojirenstvi, Brno - Lisen (Precision Engineering Works).
To it the subsidiary plants at Klasterec nad Ohri, at Dolni Mecholupy and at
Kysucke Nove Mesto gradually affiliated. All these units manufactured 155 types
of bearings at that time. Starting from the year 1953 this manufacturing and
economic entity performed under the name of ZKL and from the year 1976 as
ZETOR. During the years 1959-60 the establishment introduced the manufacture of
tapered roller bearings at Presov and then in the years 1961-63 a new bearings plant was
erected at Skalica. Another part of production moved to Blanicke strojirny,
while the manufacture of tapered rolls went to Povazske strojirny plant at
Povazska Bystrica. Within the period between 1965 to 1980 the manufacture of
further 217 types of bearings were relocated from Brno works to other plants.
The
lasting demand for new types of bearings and mounting demands for technical
level in technology, design and quality initiated to establish the ZKL VUVL (Rolling
Bearings Research Institute).
After
the year 1990 and after subsequent division of the republic the economic
transformations within ZETOR Brno works resulted first in separation of
bearings manufacture from the tractor plant and later in formation of an
independent entity for the manufacture of spherical roller bearings - joint
stock company ZKL Brno, a. s. In the year 1998 it became the majority owner of
ZKL Klasterec nad Ohri, a. s. and VLT Hanusovice.
The
contacts with clients are carried out by the sections of domestic and foreign
sale integrated in the management of ZKL Group at Brno, by the trading company ZKL Bearings CZ,
a. s., domiciled at Praha.Besides, the
affiliated company in Argentine ZKL Rodamientos, S.A.,
is oriented in the territories of South America.
The history of Fersa Bearings begins in 1968 when two family owned
businesses, in the automotive sector, decided to join forces and create
A&S Fersa.
A&S Fersa’s success of this last decade stems from three
principal strategies: aggressive R&D investment; the complete
modernization of all manufacturing processes; and the implementation of a
corporate culture synonymous with continuous innovation and passion for
quality.
Since 2003, investment in R+D equipment and personnel has been
equivalent to 5% to 6% of annual sales. The incorporation in 2001 of new
partners was essential to the modernization of the productive
processes, which meant not only the construction of a new manufacturing
plant in Zaragoza, Spain, but also new automatic manufacturing and
assembly lines with the latest European generation technology in this
field.
These aggressive investment into Research, Development and plant
infrastructure have been essential in obtaining certification from Tier 1
companies supplying axles and transmissions to global OEM’s.
The customer and market diversification strategy adopted in 2000 and
the, then recently introduced, culture of continuous innovation were key
elements to the successful market penetration the brand has had in more
than 60 countries.
In 2005 Fersa inaugurated their new manufacturing plant in Spain,
with the latest technological advances; in 2009 the company opened new
sales/engineering offices in Brazil; and in April of 2011 a new
production center opened in China. As a result of these actions Fersa’
has trebled its production capacity to supply the ever increasing demand
of our global customers.
Our investment plans for 2012-2014 include the opening of a new
manufacturing plant in North America and the inauguration of an R+D
center in Germany.
